From Global News.
Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen scolded U.S. Vice-President JD Vance on Friday for his “tone” after Vance criticized Denmark for “underinvesting” in Greenland’s security.
“This is not how you speak to your close allies,” he said. “We respect that the United States needs a greater military presence in Greenland … We, Denmark are very much open to discussing this with you, with an open mind."
Rasmussen said there are many ways for the U.S. to increase its presence in Greenland under the terms of a 1951 defence agreement.
He added that the U.S. has also not done enough to ensure Greenland’s security, pointing to the closure of all but one of 17 military installations that had been active during the Cold War.
