David Murdock, the high school dropout and WW2 veteran who became a billionaire in part by rebuilding and expanding the famous fruit empire Dole, has died at 102. Murdock purchased the nearly bankrupt company that owned Dole Foods and turned the company into the world’s largest producers of fruits and vegetables.
