From Global News.
The United States’ National Transportation Safety Board is expected to give an update on Tuesday, on the midair collision between a helicopter and an aircraft that plunged into the Potomac River, over Washington, D.C., in January.
The crash is one of the deadliest in the U.S., killing all 67 people on board.
The NTSB said in February that preliminary data showed conflicting readings about the altitudes of the airliner and the helicopter.
Investigators also said that about a second before impact, the jet’s flight recorder showed a change in its pitch. But they did not say whether that change in angle meant that pilots were trying to perform an evasive maneuver to avoid the crash.
Early last month, U.S. Secretary of Transport Sean Duffy said it was a “clear night” and both the plane and helicopter were in a standard pattern. He added that more details would be provided as the investigation progressed.
