Death Toll in Dominican Club Collapse Grows to Over 200

The death toll from Tuesday morning’s roof collapse at a club in the Dominican Republic now stands at over 200 souls. The head of the country’s emergency services told reporters that there are 218 confirmed fatalities in the tragedy at the Jet Set club. Authorities say that 189 people were pulled alive from the wreckage. There are no official estimates of how many people are still unaccounted for. The rescue operation is now a recovery effort, as no other survivors are expected to be found.
