Bereaved relatives conducted the last rites of their family members killed in the ill-fated Air India flight AI 171 that crashed minutes after takeoff in Gujarat, India, on Thursday, killing all on board but one passenger.

Officials say about 270 bodies have been retrieved from the site so far, with work continuing to identify the victims and return them to their families.

Ravina Christian, the mother of a passenger on the flight, had lost her husband in late May. Her son Lawrence Christian was returning to conduct the last rites of his father and perished in the plane crash.

“While leaving, he told me to stay well, he told me not to worry about anything,” Ravina said on Saturday, before breaking down into sobs.
