DIY Brutalism | How I made a concrete kitchen island

From HomeMadeModern.

I brought my love of brutalist architecture home by making a DIY concrete kitchen island with concrete countertops. This is the centerpiece of the new house I built for myself in Joshua Tree. The kitchen island is comprised of 17 pieces of precast concrete. I have made a lot of concrete countertops and this is a beginner friendly approach that has worked well for me. I used grout to fill in the gaps between these precast concrete blocks. The molds were a combination of HDPE plastic and melamine.
