In launching his trade war, U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened Canada’s economy and sovereignty. But he has also launched a wave of patriotism across this country.

On Saturday, swaths of Canadians hit the streets of downtown Toronto to put their pride on display — and to protest Trump’s dangerous rhetoric.

The phrase behind the "Elbow’s up" rally orginates from NHL legend Gordie Howe, who was known for his toughness.

“Truth is Canadians are mad as hell,” one protester told Global News.
