The numbers of wolves living in the wild in Europe is estimated to have almost doubled over the last decade to more than twenty thousand. That’s seen as a success for conservation measures classifying wolves as ‘strictly protected.’ But after protests from farmers angered by the killing of livestock, a new EU law comes into force today that makes it easier for landowners to shoot wolves. DW’s Rosie Birchard and Nathan Canas have this report.
