The European Union is "on track" to reduce greenhouse emissions by at least 55 percent by 2030, Brussels says, after assessing member states’ climate plans. If EU states take the promised actions, the European Commission expects emissions to fall by 54 percent by 2030 compared to 1990, very close to the 55 percent target. SOUNDBITE
