From DW News.
Denmark is introducing compulsory military service for women, two years earlier than planned. Danish women who turn 18 after July 1st this year could be drafted from 2026 onward. Men and women must now take part in an annual ballot, from which names are drawn if there are not enough volunteers for the army. Denmark has also extended the duration of military service from four to eleven months. In February, it announced it was increasing its defence spending by 6.8 billion euros over the next two years in response to the rising threat posed by Russia.
