As a step to hold Putin accountable for his invasion of Ukraine in 2022, European leaders launched the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression Against Ukraine. The Kremlin has signaled they plan to ignore any international attempts to hold the Kremlin accountable. Despite this, Russian Opposition Politician, Vladimir Kara-Murza, who spent over two years in Russian prison for speaking out against the Kremlin, has faith Putin will ultimately face justice for his actions against Ukraine. Though he says it will ultimately be Russians who change the country from the inside, Western support is key, and something he’s seeing a shift away from. “Appeasement never leads to peace.”
