FBI Director Kash Patel on Wednesday called for the U.S. to “refocus assets” at the U.S. border with Canada after he said the frequency of “known and suspected” terrorists crossing the border in the U.S. had increased compared to the number of crossings at the southern border.

Patel said 34 “known and suspected terrorists” had been caught trying to cross into the U.S. from Canada since Jan. 20.

The FBI director also spoke about the flow of fentanyl across America’s borders, calling it a “national security crisis.”
