The FBI are investigating what Director Kash Patel has described as a “targeted terror attack” in Boulder, Colo. Sunday outside a pedestrian mall.

The male suspect, who has since been taken into custody, allegedly attacked “multiple” people, setting some on fire.

The attack happened during a peaceful protest held by pro-Israel demonstrators, though Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn told reporters it would be “irresponsible” to “speculate” whether that was a motive for the attack.

“We are not calling it a terror attack at this point, again, it is way too early to speculate motive. I know that there is a lot out there on social media, but I ask people to give us just a little bit of patience while we work through a really complex scene,” Redfearn said.
