U.S. President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles over the weekend following demonstrations against Immigration and Customs Enforcement that began Friday. California Gov. Gavin Newsom called the deployment of the National Guard without consulting him ‘unlawful’ and says the state is suing. CBC’s Katie Simpson tells Power & Politics that about 700 U.S. Marines are being mobilized to move into the Los Angeles area.
