Fireworks and pagan traditions mark opening night of Glastonbury Festival | AFP

Thousands gather to take part in the opening traditions of Glastonbury Festival. Huge crowds sit on the hill under the Glastonbury sign to watch the sunset as others choose to take part in a sacred ceremony led by pagans around the "Stone Circle". Over 200,000 people are expected to attend the festival, which this year is headlined by The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo.
