France knife attack: 1 dead, several injured as authorities investigate “Islamic terrorist act”

From Global News.

At least one person was killed and several others injured in a knife attack at Mulhouse’s covered canal market on Feb. 22. President Emmanuel Macron condemned the incident as “no doubt, an Islamic terrorist act,” following confirmation that anti-terrorism prosecutors were investigating.

Authorities said a passer-by was killed while trying to intervene, and three police officers were wounded before the suspect was arrested. Residents gathered the next day, calling for solidarity in the wake of the violence.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau met with police in Mulhouse, acknowledging both successes and failures in security efforts and stressing the need to learn from each incident.
