France, Spain and the UAE airdropped humanitarian aid into Gaza after a global hunger monitor earlier this week said a famine scenario was unfolding in the area, with malnutrition soaring, children under five dying of hunger-related causes and humanitarian access severely restricted.
 
Israel began allowing the airdrops this week, but United Nations agencies say they are a poor alternative to letting in more trucks. Some Palestinians criticized the airdrops as inherently dangerous as they can land on tents where people are living and leave people fighting for food.
