From Global News.
Nearly 1,000 firefighters were deployed northwest of Marseille on Friday as a wildfire burned through 240 hectares of forest near Martigues.
Fire Colonel Pierre Belpoix said 150 people were evacuated and 150 homes saved, crediting calmer weather for improved containment.
Two firefighters were injured as strong winds and high heat initially drove the fire through dry terrain.
“Friday is a better day,” Belpoix said. “We have a drop in temperatures, humidity is going up and the wind has changed direction.”
