From Global News.
A man who lost his wife in the Lapu Lapu festival tragedy spoke about her love and legacy at a vigil for the victims, just two days after a driver struck and killed her at Vancouver’s Lapu Lapu festival.
An SUV drove into a crowd at the Filipino cultural celebration Saturday night, killing 11 people, including Jen Darbellay. The event took place on the grounds of a Vancouver school and aimed to celebrate Filipino heritage and community.
The victims ranged in age from five to 65. On Tuesday afternoon, Vancouver Police Sgt. Steve Addison reported that seven people remain in critical condition. The group includes five men and two women, between the ages of 29 and 66. The youngest patient is only 22 months old.
As Global’s Angela Jung reports, donations continue to pour into GoFundMe campaigns for survivors and grieving families, as more people learn that someone they know was killed or injured in the tragedy.
