As Germany’s election day approaches, disinformation is a threat many fear could destabilize the vote.

German authorities have called out videos spreading online showing the shredding of mail-in ballots. They say the envelopes are the wrong shape and colour, proving the video is fake and is part of an ongoing wave of disinformation coordinated in Russia.

German concerns about election interference are not just focused on Russia, but also on meddling from Washington.
