Ghosts Of The Original Residents Still Linger In This Richmond, Texas Museum

From All Roads.

One of the most diverse counties in the nation displays its complicated history alongside ghosts of the past at this Texas museum. Just beyond the banks of the Brazos, the Fort Bend Museum offers three ways to peek back in time at Texas life,

The redesigned exhibit gallery leads visitors through history from the Texas Revolution to the Civil Rights Movement. New installations focus on widening the museum’s representation and accurately depicting hardships that the diverse population of Ford Bent has faced.

The property also also includes two historical homes representing very different Texas backgrounds. Guests can tour the historic Long-Smith cottage, built on land owned by Jane Long, the "Mother of Texas." There is also the historic Moore Mansion, which served as the home od the first Baptist Church of Richmond, But visitors should still be aware that some of the original residents may still be lingering as ghosts.

At the Long-Smith Cottage, rumors circulate of an occasional deep=set depression in one of the beds as though someone is laying on it. And at the Moore Mansion, neighbors have reported lights flickering on and off while figures move through the home after hours.
