President Donald Trump announced a new trade deal with the European Union on Sunday, which sets a 15 per cent tariff on most European imports to the U.S. The Trump administration has failed to deliver on a promise of “90 deals in 90 days,” but several deals are being made ahead of the president’s Aug. 1 deadline. Nova Scotia’s lobster harvesting season is now over but that doesn’t mean that fisheries enforcement ends. In the past, there have been tensions and even violence between commercial fishers and Indigenous harvesters exercising treaty rights outside the season.
