GOP Rep. pushes back on Bannon and Musk: ‘Hyperpartisanship does not work’

From MSNBC.

The 118th Congress spent its final days embroiled in another debacle over a spending bill, and it almost brought the government to the brink of another shutdown. “It’s really stupid politics to be for a government shutdown,” Republican congressman Don Bacon of Nebraska tells Ali Velshi. While some Republicans – like former Trump White House senior adviser Steve Bannon – think the solution to the impasse in Congress is to double down, Rep. Bacon is pushing back on that idea. “Hyper partisanship does not work in a government that has three branches,” says Bacon. “We have checks and balances, and James Madison designed this to insist that there has to be some kind of consensus between various factions — as those are the words he used — to get to get stuff done.” Instead of “mob mentality on social media,” Rep. Bacon suggests Musk “pick up the phone and talk to your ally.”
