From AFP News Agency.
A spectacular blaze broke out on 8 August at about 9:00 pm local time at a historic mosque-turned-cathedral in Cordoba in southern Spain, raising fears for the early medieval architectural gem and evoking memories of the 2019 fire that ravaged Notre Dame cathedral in Paris.
The mayor of the city estimated that the fire damaged just 50 to 60 square metres of the vast interior of the building, which stands in the centre of Cordoba, surrounded by the old Jewish and Moorish quarters.
