How Emilio Estefan revolutionized Latin music

From NPR.

Emilio Estefan revolutionized Latin music, fusing Cuban rhythms with pop and paving the way for artists like Shakira, Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan to reach a global audience. As a producer and musician, he elevated the genre, bringing its stories and voices to the forefront across cultures.

Estefan used a conga drum to shape the vibrant, Cuban-inspired pop sound that propelled his band, the Miami Sound Machine, to international fame. That drum is currently on exhibition at the National Museum of American History.
