How the World’s Smallest Heart Pump Saved a Patient’s Life

It doesn’t look like much, but Katrina Penney says she wouldn’t be here today without a very small heart pump. Penney went into heart failure two years ago. She had been living with a donated heart since she was a baby. Then as she got older, the heart stopped working effectively. She would need a second heart transplant. She ended up on a waiting list, but in the meantime she had the Impella 5.5 implanted to pump blood in her heart. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.
