At a recent prayer breakfast, Donald Trump and JD Vance were deeply offended by a Christian Bishop who kindly asked them to have compassion for marginalized folks. So how can these politicians and their followers claim to be Christians, while actively rejected the underlying ethics of their faith? How does this adventure in missing the point put both faith, and our political system, at risk? I talk about it with reference to Ernst Bloch and Soren Kierkegaard.
