More Canadians are feeling the pinch of tariffs from the ongoing trade dispute between Canada and the U.S.
New car sales have plummeted as prices increase due to President Donald Trump’s tariffs. But while many Canadians are thinking twice before putting money down on a new car, demand for used vehicles in Canada has gone up.
“We saw a massive spike in May. We saw – I think this was true for both ourselves and for dealerships – significant demand for (used) cars in May,” says Dan Park, CEO of used car e-commerce platform Clutch.
However, tariff-driven demand combined with a supply crunch is sending prices higher.
