How Trump’s trade war could benefit Canada’s tech sector

The Trump administration announced late Friday it would exclude electronics, including some smartphones and laptops, from reciprocal tariffs.
That means they won’t be subject to the current 145 per cent tariffs the U.S. levied on China or the U.S. 10 per cent baseline tariffs elsewhere.

But the move, while positive, comes amid a climate of uncertainty in the U.S. – and its prompting some of the brightest minds in tech and in the scientific community to consider their options outside the U.S.

And As Heather Yourex-West explains, America’s loss could be Canada’s gain.
