Thousands of humanoid robots ran alongside actual humans in a half-marathon in Beijing on Saturday.
The robots navigated the 13.1-mile course supported by teams of human navigators, operators and engineers. While the flesh-and-blood participants followed conventional rules, the machines in the Humanoid Robot Half-Marathon were allowed to make battery swap pit stops, among other tailored guidelines.
Among the machines, Tien Kung Ultra claimed victory, crossing the finish line in 2 hours, 40 minutes and 42 seconds. Awards were also handed out for the robots with the best endurance, the best gait design and the most innovative form.
