Hurricane Erick causes widespread damage in southern Mexico

Hurricane Erick struck Oaxaca, Mexico on June 19, uprooting trees, damaging homes, and flooding streets across multiple towns.

The Category 3 storm affected 15 road sections and left 123,000 users without power before weakening to a tropical storm.

In San Jose Del Progreso, banana and palm plantations were hit hard, while a river overflowed in Juchitan, displacing hundreds.

Authorities reported no casualties but warned of continued dangerous rains across the region.
