“I cried”: Air Canada strike costs young Girl Guides member trip of a lifetime

From Global News.

Among the thousands of passengers affected by the Air Canada strike were a group of Girl Guides, including one from Montreal, who was heartbroken to find out their trip of a lifetime had to be cancelled.

“I was looking forward to the train ride from London to Edinburgh the most,” says Montreal Girl Guide Mikaela Hosein-Patel. “I cried.”

Air Canada and the union representing its flight attendants say their strike has ended after the two parties reached a new tentative agreement Tuesday.

The airline said in a statement that it would gradually resume service after reaching a mediated settlement.

And while no amount of money can replace a dream vacation, would-be passengers are demanding compensation.

Phil Carpenter reports.
