Since the weekend, thousands of Indigenous people from diverse ethnic groups have been camping at the National University of Colombia in Bogota, ahead of the May 1 mobilization in support of President Gustavo Petro’s government programs. With just over a year left in his term, Petro has called for public backing of his reform projects rejected by Congress, tying the mobilizations to the International Workers’ Day marches.
