International student killed by stray bullet at Hamilton bus stop

From Global News.

Hamilton Police are investigating after an international Mohawk College student was struck by a stray bullet Thursday during an exchange of gunfire between two cars.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 21-year-old woman — identified as Harsimrat Randhawa, from India — at a Hamilton bus shelter with a gunshot wound to her chest. She was rushed to hospital, where she later died.

During a press conference on Friday, investigators said through video evidence they observed a passenger in a black Mercedes SUV shoot at occupants of a white sedan.

Hamilton police Chief Frank Bergen said he has committed “every available resource” to find the “thugs” responsible for the “senseless killing” and has asked anyone with any relevant information to report it to the authorities.
