From Acorn To Arabella.

We hope everyone watching is in the middle of a great holiday season. All we want for Christmas is for you to tell your friends and family about our channel 🙂

After spending a few days pinned down with bad weather, Steve and Robin head out of Bivalve and up the Delaware River. With a rainbow marking the entrance to the C&D Canal, Arabella makes her way through Chesapeake City and into the Chesapeake Bay.

Then, it’s a bit of a nerve wracking passage through dense fog into the safety of Annapolis, America’s Sailing Capital. They are very grateful to have radar and AIS to help them get where they are going safely. They spend a rainy day checking out the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park, meeting some new friends from the Severn Sailing Association, and checking out the annual Holiday Market.

Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38′ wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin’s Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel’s gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they’ve built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva.
