From DW News.
As Russian airstrikes continue to batter Ukraine’s infrastructure, European leaders and international partners have gathered in Rome for the fourth Ukraine Recovery Conference to launch a new reconstruction fund. It’s the latest step in a multi-billion-euro push to help rebuild the country. Italy’s Prime Minister Georgia Meloni announced commitments of more than 10 Billion euros, while German Chancellor Friedrich Merz pledged unwavering support and urged the United States to stay aligned with Europe in backing Kyiv. Merz also said Germany is planning to purchase US-made Patriot air defence systems for delivery to Ukraine. Ukraine estimates it will need one trillion dollars to repair the war damage. Kyiv is looking for more than half of that to be made up of seized Russian assets. President Volodymyr Zelensky has renewed his call for a fund like the Marshall Plan used to rebuild Europe after the Second World War.
