Israel has given final approval to expand a massive settlement project known as E1, that will effectively slice the occupied West Bank in half. It’s been widely condemned by countries such as Britain, Canada and France, calling it a "flagrant violation of international law" and an end to the idea of a Palestinian state. Israeli settlements in the West Bank are considered illegal under international law.
