There is divide in the Gaza Strip as rejection and complicity – ignited by Israel’s plan to relocate citizens of Gaza City – sweeps the war-torn region.

Last week, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed its plans to equip Gazans with tents and other shelter equipment before launching a new offensive to seize control of the enclave’s largest urban centre.

Among the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza City, many refuse to leave. A larger majority of citizens, however, have already packed up, heading southbound, where the IDF promises will be safe from the expected combat zones.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas – which the IDF is on a mission to eliminate – suggested Sunday that the further displacement of Gazans constitutes a "new wave of genocide.”
