The United Nations human rights office expressed deep concern on Tuesday over the deadly violence that erupted during protests across Kenya, with at least 10 people killed and widespread property damage reported.
Hospitals in Kenya sustained damage during protests to mark the 35th anniversary of the Saba-Saba pro-democracy rallies, witnesses and hospital officials said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference in Nairobi on Monday, Former Kenya Prime Minister Raila Odinga criticized the “rogue police force” and accused the government of using state security to stifle dissent.
"We have a rogue police force that shoots people with impunity and this is a force that we inherited from the colonialists," Odinga said.
