Law enforcement officials announced criminal charges against anti-ICE protesters on Wednesday in Los Angeles, California.
Two men were arrested on charges of possessing an unregistered explosive device after allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at police officers in downtown Los Angeles and Paramount.
“We’re coming after all these people. So let’s be clear, this is the beginning, not the end,” U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said.
On Tuesday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom condemned President Donald Trump’s deployment of U.S. Marines and National Guard troops, calling it a reckless escalation that has deepened tensions in the city.
Protests that sprang up in Los Angeles over immigration enforcement raids prompted U.S. President Donald Trump to mobilize National Guard troops and Marines over the weekend, an act Newsom says took place without consulting with him or local law enforcement first.
