U.S. President Donald Trump clashed with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass during a fire emergency briefing in the Pacific Palisades, California on Friday.

Residents expressed their frustration over being prevented from returning to their homes sooner.

Mayor Bass said debris was causing the delay and residents’ safety was the city’s priority, while Trump urged Bass to speed up the process.

During the trip, Trump floated shuttering the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), where he pledged government support and sparred with Democratic officials such as Calif. Governor Gavin Newsom.
