Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo are expected to sign a U.S.-brokered peace agreement in Washington, D.C., raising hopes for an end to years of fighting that have displaced hundreds of thousands of people. Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosts the signing ceremony between Democratic Republic of the Congo Foreign Minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner and Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe. The agreement marks a breakthrough in talks held by the Trump administration, which aims to end the violence and bring billions of dollars of Western investment to the region.
