Attorneys for Luigi Mangione filed a motion on Friday to block capital punishment, saying the Trump administration is seeking the death penalty as a “political stunt.” Mangione is facing both federal and state charges for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. He has pleaded not guilty to the state charges.
