During a meeting with Pope Francis at Ajaccio airport in Corsica, French President Emmanuel Macron pledges assistance to residents of Mayotte after Cyclone Chido carved a path of devastation across the French Indian Ocean territory. "From one island to another, from one territory of France to another, from one continent to another, I have this thought for them as I stand with you today," Macron tells the pontiff. "The joy in Corsica that you have brought and the sadness in Mayotte for which we are going to take action," he adds.
