There is deep anxiety among the New York City elite that win for 33-year-old democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani in the mayoral election in November would lead to higher taxes and a subsequent exodus of wealthy residents from the five boroughs. “It’s officially hot commie summer,” hedge fund billionaire Dan Loeb commented on X. “This will be the end of New York City as we know it,” Wall Street headhunter Michael Nelson said.
