From Global News.
Theodore Muskego’s long journey from Onion Lake First Nation to Cross Lake, Manitoba, paid off in a big way when he reeled in a 100-centimetre northern pike just seconds before the Loretta’s Burger Stand Ice Fishing Derby ended.
His dramatic last-minute catch secured the $100,000 grand prize as onlookers cheered him on. Muskego, who had to ditch his reel and pull the fish up by hand, called the moment unbelievable.
The entry fee was a birthday gift from his father, Glenn, who he brought along to fish. With his winnings, Muskego plans to buy a truck, pay off bills, and take his kids on vacation.
