Might China-US negotiations resolve tariff dispute? | DW News

From DW News.

High-ranking representatives from China and the United States have opened negotiations in Geneva to resolve the ongoing tariff dispute between the superpowers.

Chinese state media reported that the weekend-long talks had begun, and China’s vice premier, He Lipeng, held talks with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The two sides finally came together for talks after US President Donald Trump ignited a trade war last month. He imposed additional duties of up to 145% on Chinese goods, prompting Beijing to retaliate with tariffs of up to 125% on US imports.
