Mortgage-free retirement? Not so for 1 in 3 Canadians, according to Royal LePage

One in three Canadians approaching retirement in the next two years expect to keep paying their mortgages even after they’ve stopped working, according to Royal LePage.

In a survey of 1,626 Canadians conducted by the real estate firm, less than half — or 45 per cent — of people retiring soon said they have already paid their mortgages off.

As Nivrita Ganguly reports, while high home prices and affordability concerns play a role, many are also choosing to delay paying off their homes.
