Mother’s Day is the traditional start of the summer season for the Musk Ox Farm in Palmer, about an hour’s drive north of Anchorage. All moms get a flower, free admission and the chance to get up close with musk oxen: hefty Ice Age survivors whose ancestors once roamed the Earth with saber-toothed tigers and mastodons.
