In 2024, Major League Baseball officially incorporated the statistics of players from the segregated Negro Leagues into its record books in an effort to formally integrate some of the game’s greatest players like famed slugger Josh Gibson. Prior to this change, first-hand accounts from baseball’s Black history was only preserved in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum where its legacy lived separately from the major league.
